Measure what moved: tracked links, baselines and honest reports
Why every creator report should carry a source and a caveat, and the simplest setup that makes attribution possible.
Platform insights tell you what happened on the platform. They do not tell you which channel sent the person who became a supporter. The minimum setup that answers that question is one tracked link or referral code per channel, pointing at a page you control, with a weekly habit of writing down the numbers.
A baseline is the number before you change anything. Without it, a report is a story. Record the baseline before day four of any sprint, then compare week two to it. Keep what moved; drop what did not.
Every number in a report should say where it came from: tracked (a link you control), self-reported (platform insights you entered) or estimated (a model). Tracked links attribute clicks, not causation. Supporter counts entered from platform dashboards are only as accurate as the entry. Say so in the report; your future self will thank you when you decide what to do next month.
This is how the Growth OS reports are built: baseline versus after, attribution by channel, a confidence note and a provenance label per metric. It is less flattering than a growth screenshot. It is also the only kind of report you can act on.
